Zee Many Faces of Anna

I've had a desire to redo furniture this week. I really want to go to some thrift stores, buy cheap/old furniture and things, then sand, paint, decorate it all. As of today the weather is less than favorable, so I won't be taking a trip to just look at the things I would buy if I were to actually fix anything up. I thought about taking Anna out for the day until I woke up at 7am to feed her and looked at the weather on my phone. Snow for the next three days, or so my phone's weather told me. Boo this weather.
Happy Anna!
Unsure Anna!Complaining Anna!
I just like her.

Man, I just don't have anything to write these days. Maybe I will again soon.

No, thank you, sickness.

I wish it were possible to just refuse illness. I've been trucking along since Saturday unscathed by Miles' violent flu, as had Anna. Yesterday Anna woke up with a fever and has since been up and down in that department. She's currently napping, but she continues to be feverish/fussy/super sad looking. Today I woke up with a headache and a bit of sinus pressure. I'm trying my hardest to push this sickness away, but I fear it might overcome me. Right now my head still hurts, I still have the sinus pressure, and I have a queasy feeling in my stomach that comes and goes.

I just want to nap.

I'd attempt that glorious nap if I thought Anna would continue to sleep after being put in her rocker or sleeper. She's currently sleeping on a pillow on my lap and I'd much rather her get sleep and conquer her bug than for me to get said nap.

Today disappointed me greatly. The plan was to meet Mandy, her babes, and Amber at Little Cakes then go to the park since it was such a wonderful day out. Well, we did go to Little Cakes, even though Anna wasn't looking too hot. I thought maybe getting her out of the apartment where we've been cooped up for a few days might help her feel a bit better. It didn' we came back home and Anna took a nap.

Miles woke up and held down the fort so I could run a proof of residence to DFS. (Back story: Anna was on medicaid. They never let us know that she was approved, and I waited for her card for a long time. We finally got her number from Urgent Care when we took her last month. Yesterday we took Anna to the doctor and they told us that her medicaid was inactive. We called DFS and talked to a supervisor named Ron, Don or something of the sort and he said just to bring in a proof of residence and they'd fix it because it was just inactivated on Tuesday.) So, today I went to give them a proof of residence so we could get the account activated in case we have to take Anna back to the doctor to get tests done to see about her fever. First off, I don't think the people at the front desk know anything about their job. No matter what you say all they tell you do to is get a number and wait. So, I got a number and waited for about half an hour. When they called me back the lady told me that the account was closed and we'd have to reapply. Okay, so why did the supervisor tell me just to bring in proof of residence? Why doesn't anyone know what they're talking about? Incompetence, I tell you! Oh, oh! The reason they closed the account in the first place? They tried to mail Anna's medicaid card to Apt 1B instead of 7B so it came back as undeliverable. Why wouldn't they call and ask me about that? And to top it off, that error isn't my fault! They took a copy of my license which has 7B on it, so it's their fault and we have to go through all of this trouble because of it. Not to mention that I had called down to talk to our case worker 10 times (no exaggeration) and left many-a-messages to only receive one call back once we already had her number. Incompetence, I tell you, again!

Anyway, back to today being disappointing. I was really looking forward to taking Anna to the park today and just being out in some nice weather after being inside for so long. Hopefully it'll be nice again soon and hopefully we have a healthy family again soon. And, most importantly, hopefully they coincide.

I think that's all for now. Tootles!

Simply Put

This girl is ridiculous.

The cycle tonight has been eat, fall asleep while eating, wake up cranky, be happy for about five minutes, then be crabby and want to eat again...rinse and repeat.

Oy vey!

We did bath time kind of like normal. Miles got to sleep really late today because we got our hair cut, so I didn't wake him up to help. We got the washing out of the way fast so Anna could play for a long time to wear herself out. That's been working pretty well. Good thing she loves playing in the water or this everyday bath time would be horrible.

The last couple of days Anna has gone back to waking up once or twice at night to eat. Twice the last couple of nights, and once before that. I'm thinking it's time to get this girl on some rice...but we'll see. I have some coupons for rice cereal and some purees for supported sitters so I may venture out and pick some up. She is 4.5 months old now!

I would post a picture of Anna doing tummy time and looking at a monkey Abbie gave her, but I haven't uploaded those pictures I won't do that. Maybe next time.

I worked on Miles' Valentine's Day gift. It's failing miserably so far, so I'm a bit disappointed. I think I'm going to have to cut what was going to be 4 things down to 2 and even the 2 that I make won't be what I was hoping for. My printer is also almost out of black ink so what is supposed to be grey is coming out slightly purple. I don't know how much I really care, but I do think I'd like it better completely grey. I don't feel like spending the money to get a new black ink cartridge, though, so we may just stick with purplish - bleh. It may change, and hopefully it will change for the awesome, because this mediocre feeling I'm getting from what I'm making isn't very satisfying.

Anna is slowly starting to wake up. I assume she's going to want to eat before sleeping again...then I should sleep.

I fully expect to have to cut this short.

Anna will probably be waking up soon to eat before returning to sleep. Really I should just go to sleep instead of worrying about typing anything...but, here we are.

Sundays are harder with a baby. I try my hardest to spend the day listening to studies and reading, but it's hard to do those things with a baby. Anna's attention span is too short to listen for too long, and there's basically no way of paying attention to a study while playing.
That's all about that, though.

I still like that house. I have a problem of getting hung up on things. I was hung up on that one house, now I'm hung up on this house. I get hung up on ideas, too. Like Etsy, and hot chocolate on a stick, and baking. Soon I'm going to make some chocolate chip cookie dough to freeze. I've realized that I have all of the ingredients to make it, so I might do that tomorrow. I also might not.

I do, however, plan on making Miles an ice cream cake with coffee flavored ice cream for his birthday. Does Wal-Mart sell coffee flavored ice cream? I hope so, or this will be a lot trickier than necessary.

Also, I thought it'd be interesting to share the links that are always in my drop down search bar...and the order they're currently in. (obviously) (I like my own blog?) (you thought it'd be Spanish, didn't you?)

I think that last one is typed correctly. It's pictures that a girl from Washington (I think) takes. I like them, but I'm not sure why it's on my top visited websites. I don't look at it much anymore. But, speaking of pictures, I would like to just go take pictures somewhere. That's a job in itself, though, since getting the babes out is so much work. I'm getting a headache and I think it means I should just sleep. Yep, that's what it means.

I've found myself a house.

Okay, so it's the second house I've claimed for myself. The first one is $105,000 and is off Ashland. It's super cute and looks like it's rooms are kind of funky, but it has what seems to be a lot of natural lighting. The second is $24,900 and is off Frederick between 11th and 12th...not such a great neighborhood. But, it's cute and was a foreclosure and I think it's been fixed up...or at least it looks like it was.
The yard is tiny, like super tiny, but there's a baseball field park thing in a lot diagonal from it. Miles has to remind me often that we're not buying a house, but I just like to look at them. This is the problem I get myself into. I look at design blogs and want to design/decorate my own space. Especially a room for Anna! It'd just be fun!

Okay, now on to something not house related...

I hate when people call their babies princesses! I don't know why, but it just drives me crazy!

I'm excited for tonight. Miles and I are going to go to Plaza 8 and see a movie. I'm not sure what we're going to see, but I'm sure it'll be mediocre at best and that is just fine with me. I think we're also get some food and we also need to get Miss Anna more diapers. It'll be nice to get out and about doing something that doesn't include waiting uncomfortably to be called back for an appointment.

For now I must depart. It's time to work with Anna on rolling over and sitting up! Hopefully she'll one of these down soon!

I have moonwalked past accounting like, ten times.

Let me tell you about some things. Things I like, things I don't like, and just some random thoughts I have.

I like...
design blogs...a lot.
charts, graphs, lists, maps, etc.
Romans 9.
when people understand my jokes.

I don't like...
steel wool.
when people post stuff about their personal lives on Facebook then complain that people are trying to get in their business.
that it's not nice enough outside to take Anna on walks.
that Twitter doesn't have a 'like' button.
when people call their baby girls "princesses." They're not princesses!
when I'm talking to someone and they're looking at their phone.

I also don't understand the people who are always on their phones texting/talking/or online. There is no one who wants to talk to me that much in a day. Believe me, I know.

I've realized that the longer I spend my days at home doing nothing the more I want to try new recipes. Tonight I made homemade french fries, steak, and baked beans. Everything was mediocre, but the fries do have potential. I may try to make some again tomorrow with the recipe tweaked a bit to see if I can make them better.

Before:After:Way After:I used some zesty herb marinade. It was acceptable, but I've got to say that the Montreal steak seasoning marinade is better. I like how making steaks is way easier than frying chicken. But, in a semi-unrelated note, now that I've got the deep fryer all oiled up I'm going to be frying just about anything that is fryable. I'm sure that'll help me not feel like such a blob anymore...wait a second...
